Founding Partner, MHBC
Antonia is a founding Partner of MHBC which was established in early 2007, and has 40 years’ experience in the construction and property industries. MHBC is an LLP and is a new breed of ‘multi-skilled’ Building Consultancy with a core of highly experienced Chartered Building Surveyors and qualified Architects, Building Services Engineers and Project Mangers.
Antonia started her working life at Mellersh & Harding in St James’s, London in 1975 as a trainee Surveyor, and became a Chartered Building Surveyor in 1981, being elected to Fellow (FRICS) in 1987. She became a Partner at Mellersh & Harding in 1985, at the age of 28. She left Mellersh & Harding in 2007 with Andrew Webster to establish MHBC.
Antonia transitioned in 2000 in a very male dominated working environment, where there was no history or visible LGBT influences to draw on. She regularly accepts pro bono appointments on the basis of possibly influencing positive change for Women/LGBT good in areas that relate to entry, education and career path possibilities in her chosen career path of Surveying. In her spare time Antonia is a Board Director (and supporter) of the CSTT (Chartered Surveyors Training Trust) which aims to provide employment based training for young people (often from disadvantaged backgrounds) who hope to qualify as Chartered Surveyors. As a Liveryman of The Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors, and other organisations she aims to press for equal opportunities for Women/LGBT within the Construction Industry, which has of course been a side of business generally slow to react to such.
