Lord Black is the Executive Director of the Telegraph Media Group and the first openly gay Conservative peer in the House of Lords. He is also the Chairman of the Commonwealth Press Union Media Trust and the Vice President or News Media Europe. He was formerly the President of the Press Complaints Commission and the Director of Communications for the Conservative Party.
Through his prominent media roles and position in the House of Lords, Lord Black is an important advocate of LGBTI individuals having equal rights around the world. He has been an outspoken critic of gay ‘conversion therapy’ and works with the National Aids Trust to protect HIV funding.
He has been recognised for his efforts promoting LGBT rights and was ranked #62 in the Financial Times 2015 Leading 100 LGBT Executives OUTstanding list. He is a judge at the Out at Work awards, which rank the most important top 50 LGBT Executives in Business.
